The story revolves around Akatsuki Kojou, an ordinary-looking boy who is actually the most powerful vampire known as "Fourth Ancestor", that was thought to only exist in legend. Being afraid of how dangerous he is, the government dispatches a team of mages known as the "sword maidens", and somehow a girl named Himeragi Yukina is chosen for the task of watching over the vampire as well as take him down, if necessary.
