World's biggest Jurassic-era pterodactyl discovered on Isle of Skye

Remains of the world’s biggest flying reptile from the Jurassic-era have been unearthed on the Isle of Skye.

the unveiling of a spectacular fossil, found on the Isle of Skye. It is the largest-known pterosaur of the Jurassic period and the best-preserved skeleton of its kind in Scotland.
The huge flying reptile lived around 170 million years ago and had an estimated wingspan of more than 2.5 metres.
The find is described in a new paper published in Current Biology authored by scientists from the University of Edinburgh, National Museums Scotland, the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow, the University of St Andrews and Staffin Museum on the Isle of Skye.
