The RuneScape Companion was a free application used for various interactions with the game. It was supported by smartphones, tablets, and certain web browsers. The discontinuation of the app was announced on 24 January 2019, with the explanation that "maintaining the companion app requires time from our developers which we feel is better spent resolving other issues and developing new features on the road to release for RuneScape Mobile".[1] The app was removed from iOS and Android stores on 1 February 2019, and the game update of 4 February 2019 disabled the functionality for all versions of the app.
