Jenson Button got his latest world championship campaign off to a flying start in Melbourne, Australia, winning the Australian Grand Prix in the opening round of the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship. In the Australian twilight he left in his wake the current world champion, Sebastian Vettel in a Red Bull as well as his McLaren teammate, 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Button started the race from the first row alongside pole position winner Hamilton.
